Informal Justice Court: create awareness

The production of a real theater play is part of The Informal Justice Court Project with the stories and experiences of the participating inmates as the main characters. The theater play is used as a key element to raise awareness of the pretrial detention problem and mobilize the public to put pressure on the government. Therefore the performance of the play will be taken by professional theater makers to different stages in Nigeria and abroad in order to reach the general public.

The play is performed for other inmates in Ikoyi Prison, to sensitize and educate a larger group about their legal position and rights. Decision makers and stakeholders who can make a difference, like police, judiciary and policymakers, were invited to the performance in Freedompark.
